This gorgeous brooch was made in Siam and is made of Siam sterling silver and nielloware.
This mid century brooch depicts the Hindu God of monkeys, Hanuman. The nielloware is slightly scuffed from age, but has no deep scratch marks, and the pin back works well.
Nielloware or Niello is a type of black enamel that is more like a metal alloy than a true enamel. It's usually from a mixture of silver, copper, lead and sulfur.
